During New York Fashion Week AW16, braids was seen in many beautiful variations, and to say it the least – We are in love! It is the perfect solution if you want a look that gives you that ‘Parisian effortlessness’, where chic meets street cool. Guest hair artist, Jon Reyman for Aveda, created in collaboration with the designer, Leanne Marshall, a traditional braid/knot, with a beautiful feminine detail. It is a hair style that looks very time consuming, but it is super quick to do. What’s not to love!
YOU NEED:
- BLAX ’Clear’ Hårelastikker, 39kr.
- Aveda Thickening Hair Tonic, 199kr.
- Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray, 199kr.
- Hershesons Pull Yourself Together hair elastics, 55kr.
HOW TO:
STEP 1
Start by sectioning the hair into smaller sections and apply Aveda Thickening Hair Tonic from root to tip. That way you have the same texture all over the hair, which is important when you are styling any hair.
STEP 2
Make a center parting and blow-dry the entire hair.
STEP 3
Divide the hair into three sections. Secure the middle section into a ponytail at the nape of the neck. Use a clear elastic band, as the elastic should be invisible in the finished look.
STEP 4
Take the left section, bring it over the ponytail base and under the right section.
STEP 5
While holding that in place, pull out the left section a little bit so you create a loop, then take the right section under the ponytail base and through the loop on the left side. Tighten to make a knot.
STEP 6
Do the same technique as above, but start with the section on your right.
STEP 7
Take the right section, make a loop and bring it over the ponytail base and under the left section.
STEP 8
While holding the hair in place, take the left section under the ponytail base and through the loop on the right side. Tighten to make a knot.
STEP 9
When you reach the ends of the right and left section, tuck the ends under the ponytail base and secure it with pins.
STEP 10
Finish the look off with Aveda Thickening Hair Tonic to give extra hold.
